No. 05, FAQ Native Swift · On-device AI · Zero-egress publishing support@muninnmemory.app
01Is Muninn really a native Mac app?+

Yes. Muninn is written in Swift and SwiftUI with no embedded web views and no cross-platform runtime. The AI runs on-device through Core ML. It launches fast, stays quiet in the background and behaves like the Mac apps you already trust, because it is one.

02Do I need a subscription to use it?+

No. The app is a one-time purchase of $49.99 and it is yours to keep. Everything local works forever without a subscription: library, smart and dynamic albums, on-device search, people and map, and the slideshow editor with MP4 export.

A subscription is optional, and only matters if you want to publish. Basic ($4.99/mo) adds web galleries; Pro ($14.99/mo) adds scheduled social publishing on top.

03How is this different from Lightroom or a cloud locker?+

Muninn sits at the end of the workflow, after the shoot, the cull and the edit, not at the start. It is where finished work lives, gets organized, and gets presented. It is not a RAW developer and not a sync-everything cloud drive.

A mixed-source library is a first-class idea here: camera RAW, Luminar and Photoshop exports, Midjourney frames, phone shots and Apple Photos all sit side by side as equals.

04What actually leaves my Mac?+

Nothing, unless you choose to publish. All AI is on-device: semantic search, face clustering and tagging never touch a server. Muninn's servers only ever hold the specific photos in an album you decide to publish to the web. There is no background sync and no tracking.

See the privacy page for the full breakdown.

05Which platforms can I publish to?+

On the Pro tier you can schedule or immediately post to seven platforms: Bluesky, Mastodon, Threads, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn and Pinterest. Connected accounts are unlimited, not capped at five profiles, at roughly 25% under SocialBee.

06How much storage do I get, and what happens at the cap?+

Both paid tiers include 50 GB of fair-use cloud storage for published media. There is no higher tier to upsell you into. When you reach the cap, publishing pauses with a prompt to free up space by removing published albums.

Muninn never deletes your work. Your originals always stay on your Mac.

07Is there a free trial?+

Yes, two ways. There is a 14-day full trial of every feature, and with the app purchase your first gallery is free for a year (up to 200 photos / 2 GB). You can evaluate the whole pipeline before paying for the cloud layer.

08Can I use my own domain?+

Yes. A custom domain is a $10/yr add-on that works with either paid tier. Point your own domain at any published gallery instead of the default address.

09How does billing work, and can I cancel?+

Subscriptions are billed monthly through Stripe, and you can cancel anytime. The one-time app unlock is handled through the Mac App Store. There is no lock-in: cancel a subscription and the app keeps working locally, you just stop publishing to the cloud.

10What is Sentinel, and do I need it?+

Sentinel is Muninn's sibling app from The Forge. Sentinel culls the shoot; Muninn preserves the keepers. They are two halves of one pipeline, but you do not need Sentinel to use Muninn. Muninn works on its own with photos from any source.
